When we’re in danger, our pets have been known to rise to the challenge and turn into first responders. There have been several miraculous stories where dogs are the heroes, and Italy is taking it to the next level.
While we love our four-legged friends for being our constant companions and bringing endless smiles, they’re capable of a lot more than that. Italian School for Lifeguard Dogs is giving man’s best friend a bigger purpose.
Canines that are trained through the school are taught to rescue someone no matter what type of situation they’re in. This includes taking drastic measures if someone is caught in the ocean in need of saving.
The school teaches dogs how to jump out of a moving helicopter into the water to provide assistance. Ferruccio Pilenga has trained over 350 lifeguard dogs and continues to keep the practice going to help bring more aid to anyone in need.
