Speech pathologist Christina Hunger has created a way for her dog to speak to her using a button board. Stella has learned various words and can combine them into simple sentences.
Stella is a big fan of going outside, so most of the clips showing how she communicates using buttons show her asking to go for walks or to the park.
Christina says that she taught Stella by associating people or places with word sounds. For instance, when Stella wagged her tail, Christina would press the “happy” button, and the dog began to associate the emotion with the word. Christina says that Stella can communicate almost as well as a young toddler.
