Hoping To Catch Fish Off The Gulf Of Mexico, They Caught Something Very Unexpected Instead

Hoping To Catch Fish Off The Gulf Of Mexico, They Caught Something Very Unexpected Instead

There are so many life lessons we could take away from this story, and also that miracles do happen. Two couples were fishing off the Gulf of Mexico, around five miles from land, hoping to get a good catch of fish and just to enjoy their birthdays. But instead, they reeled in something they could never have expected.

When Bruce Knecht saw something in the water, he thought it was a buoy and went closer to see what it was as he didn’t expect to see a buoy so far out. However, when they came closer, they noticed that it was a small Jack Russell terrier that was stranded in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, wearing a bright orange life preserver.

When the dog saw the boat, he started to paddle towards it and soon was hauled onto the boat. After notifying Coast Guard, they found out that his owner had reported him missing 3 HOURS prior to his rescue! The dog’s owner had gone into the boat for something, and when he came up, the dog was nowhere to be seen.

Named Jagermeister, the owner was overjoyed to be reunited with his dog, whom he had given up all hope after searching the endless waters for hours. The Sahr and Knecht family felt this was a blessing and a miracle.

To put it into perspective, the Gulf of Mexico is 618,000 square miles, and the dog is only 15 pounds and 15 inches long, lost in a vast body of water. This is one great story of how a birthday tradition turned out to be an occasion where they gave the greatest gift of all — the gift of life to a dog lost at sea, and to a man who had given up all hope of ever seeing his beloved dog again. What a touching story and proof that miracles do exist.
