Longtime doorman, Michael Eades, noticed that one of the guests, Brandon Leach, was getting very chummy with the hotel’s dogs. Brandon, just 12 years old, had lived at the hotel for several months while being treated for mitochondrial disease. This disease stops the body cells from working properly.
Michael noticed that Brendan’s suffering was reduced when the dogs were around. So Michael organized a black labrador for Brendan to take home with him when his treatments were completed.
Labradors are excellent therapy service dogs. This incredible breed of dogs has helped countless people in need for the many years they have served mankind.
Michael made sure that the dog was specially trained to recognize common symptoms associated with Brandon’s disease so that the dog might spring into action if ever called to do so.
