BBC Earth Captures Phenomenal Rituals of Welsh Shepherd Dogs

Animals are capable of incredible things that we, as humans, sometimes can’t wrap our minds around. Take the Welsh Sheperd dogs, for example. These hard-working canines are still herding sheep in the United Kingdom to this day.

It takes a lot of work to own sheep when you live on the mountainous terrain of the Welsh countryside. Though the scenery is beautiful, it’s not the easiest to navigate, even for the toughest dog.

For decades the Welsh Shepherd breed has been best known for keeping track of sheep, navigating them through fields, and quickly learning new commands from their owner. They work for long hours at a time and become tired rather quickly.

It’s jaw-dropping to be able to see these pups in their natural habitat, herding sheep along the mountainside. The farmer talks in detail about their importance and how much work goes into the job. It’s all a magnificent sight to see.
