Jango and his handler, Officer Ryan Costin, have been partners for a decade. Jango has been extensively trained as a drug sniffer, rescue locator, and attack dog. He’s a valuable asset to the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Office and takes his job very seriously. But on this particular Tuesday morning, Jango decided that he needed a little extra TLC before he was willing to start his shift.
As Officer Costin tried everything he could think of to coax the stubborn pooch into the patrol car, his wife Cassie filmed the adorable interaction from the window. “My poor husband,” she can be heard saying, “trying to go to work, and Jango just lays flat on the ground. And it’s only Tuesday!” But eventually, Officer Costin realized that Jango wanted a few belly rubs. Once he got the attention he was after, the eager pup hopped up and was ready to go.
It’s clear from the video that Jango is more than just a working dog – he’s a beloved member of the Costin family. And while he takes his job seriously, he’s just a playful and affectionate Belgian Malinois at heart. This breed is known for its intelligence and eagerness to please, so they make such great police K9s. But they’re also great with children and other animals and love nothing more than spending time with their human families.
