When Jill Mardesich visited her local shelter in hope of adopting a new friend for her cat Penny, snuggly cat Lucky Bear ingratiated himself to Jill and her fiance and immediately won them over. Lucky Bear had been blind since birth and it was the only way he knew how to be, but the ginger cat was also the best cuddler in the shelter. And he had a best friend.
Four-month-old kitten Pumba had been at the shelter for a month. In that time, he and Lucky Bear had become best friends, never far from each other. The younger cat serves as a sort of “seeing eye kitten” for the elder, leading him around their environment. Pumba takes his blind friend to his food dish and guides him throughout the day’s activities. The two felines share a special bond.
Without the heart to split up the two cats, Jill and her fiance brought them home as a pair. Pumba (now Charon) assisted Lucky Bear (who now goes simply by “Lucky”) in learning his way around their new digs. The two appear quite comfortable in their new home and love their new sibling, Penny, as well.
Now it’s a cuddle-fest at Jill’s home with the two humans and three cats happily cohabitating. Charon continues his role as Lucky’s guide in their new home. The two cats are truly best friends for life, and now they have a family to share.
