France has some genuinely stunning countryside and beaches. Cap Ferret is quite an understated little seaside village in France, and it separates the Atlantic Ocean from Arcachon Bay. Many years ago, a young seal showed up and entertained the locals for many months (he would actually come back another year, as well).
The locals gave the little seal the name of ‘You.’ Now, this implies to me that there are some very witty word lovers in this village. You see, seal in French is ‘phoque’ – a word that sounds quite ‘objectional’ when spoken phonetically in English. And so, the locals gave the name ‘You’ to the ‘phoque’ – and I will leave that there for you.
This video is about an adorable yellow Labrador who met You on the beach one day when out for a walk with his humans. These two hit it off like long-lost cousins. The Labrador lays himself down on the beach near his new friend, and the seal surprisingly bounds right over to him, cuddling up.
The interaction between these two is precious. Apparently, Labradors have long been considered ‘land seals,’ while seals have long been considered ‘water dogs.’ So maybe there really was an instinctive sense of brotherhood between these two.
Long lost relations or not, this encounter is simply precious. This darling Labrador was quite happy and content with his new seal friend and vise-versa. They seemed perfectly at ease with other, almost like they had been life-long friends. Watch this amazing interaction between these two beautiful animals in the video below.
