75 abandoned horses were found in devastating conditions during the pitiful ‘Hampshire Rescue Case of 2014’³. The poor animals waited for some sort of miracle and, thanks god, it came right on time. 30 of these horses were provided with narrow stalls with almost no exercise or interaction with the outside world. The rest of the horses were left outside in dreadful conditions. They stayed in low-down and shoddy paddocks with insufficient shelter, excess manure, and without due treatment. All of these wonderful animals were emaciated, suffering from malnutrition and nearly at death’s door.
Fortunately, Hooved Animal Rescue & Protection Society (HARPS) in Barrington, Illinois turned up just at the right moment. HARPS along with Hands and Hooves of Chicago managed to rescue all 75 horses from death. With the help of local and national news outlets the potential adopters were called out in the October of 2014. What followed next will leave you in tears!
