Horses played a major role in our life in the past, and still do for many humans today. But as time passed, the demand for cars and trucks and other machines slowly replaced our need for horses, and now they are kept mostly as pets.
They were substituted, but they have not been forgotten. Most people might think that horses are not as suitable for an urban environment as they used to be back in the days, but Malik Divers from Philadelphia is not one of those people. He tells his story in this video.
Malik started a small stable ten years ago and this has made a huge different in not only his life, but of those around him as well. He trains teenagers to ride and keep horses. Divers says that the horses help to keep kids off the streets and they teach them responsibility. Just ask 18-year-old Shahir Drayton. Riding has even become an essential form of therapy for this young man and it is not hard to understand why.
Horses are being used more and more as therapy animals. Their success rate for rehabilitating people with illnesses, or even people in jail, has been proven, which has led more and more people to use them for therapy. Malik is one of these amazing people who gets to see the good his horses can do on a daily basis.
