Stray dog spends every day helping kids cross the street

Most of the time, dogs that live on the street are understandably wary of strangers. But Kupata was a unique case. This serious dog decided to use his freedom to become a crossguard.

No one in the neighborhood knew where Kupata had learned this behavior, but he was dedicated to his cause. “He does this every day. Literally every day,” said a woman named Tamta.

Whenever Kupata saw a group of children getting ready to cross the street, he would step into the intersection and start barking at cars to stop. Some days, he would wait for hours for the children to arrive.

For his continued service to his neighborhood, Kupata received all the food he could ever want. When he was done helping children cross the street, he stayed with a woman named Nona.

Tamta and Beqa lived on the street where Kupata did his daily services and decided to make a video about the heroic dog. “Beqa wanted to show with this video that stray dogs are kind. They are friendly, and they need help,” said Tamta.

Beqa and Tamta hoped their videos would raise awareness about the stray dogs that needed help. “Kupata is the lucky one,” Tamta explained. “We all take care of him because he is very kind and friendly.”

Beqa and Tamta planned to continue sharing Kupata’s story. “Kupata shows us that even dogs can be very responsible and very loyal,” said Beqa. “I’m sure that he’ll do this his whole life!”
