Eto, a raccoon, still visits Ashlyn, a Pittie, who raised him when he was a baby. It all started when Kate got a call from her friend about a baby raccoon she found in her tire wheel.
Kate got Eto, and he was underweight. She didn’t know if he was going to make it. Eto had been without a mom for a few days, and Kate brought him into the house.
All Eto wanted to do was eat. Three days later, Eto learned to trust Kate as she let him explore on his own. She helped Eto learn how to fish and swim.
Ashlyn became a guard dog for Eto, and she looked at him like she was his mom. She was observing him all the time and stood proud of her baby.
Kate loved to watch their mom-son relationship blossom into a best friend relationship. Eto and Ashlyn are always playing together, and Ashlyn will match his demeanor. Ashlyn is very different when it’s playtime and when she’s in mom mode.
There is an open-door policy in Kate’s home which allows Eto to come and go as he pleases. At a certain point, Eto was gone for three weeks, and he came back to visit for a few months.
Ashlyn had no trouble adjusting to Eto’s absence. She understood that her baby was grown up. Eto is definitely happy and living his best life in the wild.
