Nathanial and Elliot Green had their hearts set on adopting a Siamese kitten and attended an adoption event in hopes of finding the perfect feline adoptee. The two men did indeed find the perfect feline adoptee, but he was not the Siamese kitten they had anticipated.
When Elliot and Nathanial asked about a Siamese kitten and learned from shelter staff that none were available, someone acted on a hunch and introduced them to Merlin, a diminutive long-haired blue-gray beauty with big, round, blind blue eyes. Physically, Merlin was the exact opposite of the kitten they had hoped to bring home – but he won their hearts before they had a chance to object.
Merlin wasted no time in turning on his considerable charm, immediately curling himself to nuzzle in Elliot’s arms and purring his most convincing purr, as if to say, “You are my new human.” Elliot could not resist the ball of fluff that had staked a claim on his heart that moment. It was time to sign the paperwork and take home the small, blind kitty.
The petite cat was an expert at memorizing the layout of his new digs, navigating with the help of his other senses, and occasionally reaching out a tentative paw when he sensed an obstacle. He investigated one time and had it down cold, which impressed his two new human friends. Now he’s familiar with the whole home and does everything any other cat would do: Running, jumping, playing, and pouncing on prey – real or imaginary. Merlin earned his perfect home, and Elliot and Nathanial found the perfect feline companion…even if he was not the Siamese kitten they had envisioned.
