Alycia Burton is a young woman who works in rehabilitating ‘dangerous’ horses. This has given her a purpose and a new outlook in her life. When pictures of her jumping on a horse bareback and bridle-less started appearing on the internet, she became an overnight sensation.
But it wasn’t handed to her on a silver platter. Alycia dropped out of high school when she was just 15 years old. She quit her job at a local bank and became self-employed so she could do what she loved, which is training horses. She lived in a garage and spent her free time training and shoeing horses, giving lessons, and rehabilitating horses with behavioral issues. The free-rider now goes all over New Zealand training them.
She is especially close to a horse called Banjo. The horse and his human friend travel together everywhere. The relationship they have with one another is amazing, as you will see in this clip.
In this clip, we watch Alycia and her horse, Banjo, do a series of jumps while Alycia controls him, mostly using the bridle and her body language to him. These two obviously know each other well and communicate better than most humans communicate with each other.
It is amazing to watch this horse jump over such a variety of obstacles, and at times, these obstacles are very close together. Watch how perfectly well they work together in this clip just below.
