Ryker is training to be a service dog, but he fails out of school in the most adorable way. At Double H Training Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, they train several dogs for those who will need them.
The trainer starts off with Ryker by his side, and he is using a walker with tennis balls at the bottom. Ryker is exceptionally playful and starts biting the balls on the walker.
Ryker knows what he must do, but he isn’t good at holding back his strength. He is doing his best, and the trainers can see that. Then the trainer goes in a wheelchair, and Ryker is supposed to lead the way.
The trainer holds on to Ryker and gets pulled off the wheelchair and onto the ground. Ryker becomes excited and starts playing with the wheelchair.
He can do what he is told, but he lacks a gentle touch and calm demeanor, which is essential for service dogs. Ryker is also barking constantly.
Compared to the other dogs, Ryker is a handful and can barely stay still. While he is an intelligent dog, he may not be the right fit for a service dog.
One of the tests had Ryker grabbing a water bottle, and he ended up crushing it. Water spilled everywhere, and he continued his task of bringing the bottle around. He may have failed to be a service dog, but he is a great dog.
