Nervous Pitbull comes out of her shell thanks to foster brother

Veronica was driving down the street when she saw a sweet Pit Bull puppy hiding on the side of the road. She wasted no time scooping the little one up and taking her back to her home to recover.

Veronica named the fur baby Roo and did her best to let the scared puppy know she was safe in her new foster home. “She was actually pretty shy and timid at first,” said Veronica.

When Veronica took Roo on walks, the Pit Bull puppy would crawl on all fours, and she would hide her head when her foster mom talked to her. But Veronica could still tell that the pup was curious and wanted attention.

Veronica turned to her dog, Riot, for help with the baby dog. But first, she needed to introduce the two of them together. “Any time I get a foster dog, we go through a decompression and integration phase,” said Veronica.

Once she, Roo and Riot were comfortable, she let the two dogs start socializing. “One day, they kinda looked at each other and paused, and then they started playing,” said Veronica. That day, Veronica knew Roo would make it through.

With Riot’s help, Roo came out of her shell. “[We] really saw a lot of her spirit come out,” said Veronica. “[Riot] helped teach her that things were OK and people weren’t scary.”

Thanks to her foster brother and mom, Roo transformed from a shy, worried pup to a happy dog with a loving forever home. “Saying bye to one dog means I get to say hello to another,” said Veronica.
