The IFAW team chance upon a stray dog on a trip to a remote place in Cozumel, Mexico. The poor dog was covered in used motor oil and was more or less skins and bones. He was emaciated and in a very bad condition. IFAW took him in for instant care with the help of their local partner, the Humane Society of Cozumel Island (HSCI). They called him Coconut.
Coconut was neglected his whole life. He had never had the warmth and love of a human or a home. One of the members of the rescue team knew that she wanted him in her life the moment she saw him. She wanted him to come with her to her home and family.
But she also mentally prepared herself, because the dog looked like he would not be there for long. But after the visit to the vet, he is now on his way to recovery and finally is getting all the love in this forever home. After he received treatment and recovered, his new owner went to the airport to meet him, and he was a different dog.
His fur had grown back and his spirit had returned. He has a new forever home and room to run and play. He gets all the love and attention a dog could ever need. No dog should ever have to suffer like coconut did.
