When Bryanna Rosario of Miami saw the gray, short-haired blind kitten on a Jacksonville rescue’s adoption page, the tiny feline called to mind Lemon, the cat she had lost to a heart defect, who looked similar and was also, coincidentally, blind. She made the ten-hour drive to meet Lemon’s doppelganger but was not prepared to feel such weighty emotions on first meeting the object of her quest.
Not wanting to burden this new kitty with presumptions brought on by the memory of her beloved Lemon, Bryanna recognized the individuality of her new friend, and instead chose to view her as a gift sent to her from the cherished cat she had lost. In her honor, she named the petite feline “Lime”.
Bryanna brought little Lime home and introduced her to her other two cats and her two dogs. Lime found an instant connection with one of her new animal housemates: Rescue dog, Letty. The kitten followed Letty everywhere, and in a matter of days, the pair spent much of their time playing and snuggling together.
The dog and kitten find their most satisfying moments when they are together. When Letty goes out for walks, Lime cries until she returns, and the dog will make a beeline for her feline buddy on her entrance back into the house. The sweet dog even tries to share her toys with Lime, offering up silly tug-of-war games. The two are truly close and cherish their friendship.
