Amanda of Kitten Rescue Life of Oceanside, California learned late at night about a cat in active labor who had been abandoned at a shelter. First thing in the morning, she found the cat had given birth to one kitten overnight.
The mama cat was taken to an emergency caesarian-section when a veterinary check revealed another kitten stuck inside her. Unfortunately, the second kitten was deformed and did not survive, but the veterinarian was able to save the mama cat, Lasagna, and she was soon returned to her baby, Meatball.
Upon their reunion, Lasagna resumed her motherhood duties as if they had never been separated, grooming him, feeding him, and comforting him attentively. Amanda observed that Lasagna seemed to be the most conscientious and tender mother cat she had ever seen in her time rescuing cats.
Her rough journey to motherhood finally complete, Lasagna finally rested with her kitten Meatball safely purring and snuggled up to her. Mama and son are now both thriving after their rough first couple of days together. Lasagna continues to shower Meatball with affection.
