Cali, a Pit Bull, is the mother to all animals at The Arc Animal Sanctuary. Charli Sotiriou started the sanctuary, and she believes that Cali is what made them the family that they are today.
There are ducks in the sanctuary that are used to Cali because they have been around her since they were ducklings. Cali is affectionate and motherly to all the babies.
From the first day that any baby arrives, Cali will let them snuggle with her and even nurse on her. She gives them an endless source of kisses, sniffs, and hugs.
Charli used to only exclusively rescue dogs. Then one day, when she had ducks, she realized she could try to help other animals. Cali was there from day one and made it easier for Charli.
A friend of Charli’s helped her rescue piglets, who were named Flicker and Flower. They were 2-weeks-old when Charli saved them from a slaughterhouse. Flicker and Flower were scared of Charli.
Cali showed the piglets love and taught them how to trust. Charli watched them play together and was thrilled when they touched the grass for the first time. Cali is the most incredible mom she has ever seen.
Charli knows that if it wasn’t for Cali, she would have never started the sanctuary. Cali is a mom to everyone, and she is the glue that holds the entire place together.
