Timon is a Chihuahua who loves to ride on top of his friend Pumba, the pig. Danielle of Better Piggies Rescue took them in when they needed a home.
Under mysterious circumstances, Timon and Pumba’s previous owner was incarcerated for reasons that weren’t animal-related. Danielle could tell that they were loved but, unfortunately, abandoned. She had never seen such a bond between a pig and a dog.
Timon loves to be on Pumba’s back and finds comfort in always being there. Pumba is 175 pounds and long as well. Timon can eat while he is mounted on his friend.
Better Piggies Rescue has over 140 pigs on its property. Timon has tried to climb on top of other pigs, but it doesn’t work out as it does on Pumba.
Danielle explains that animals that experience trauma together usually find comfort in each other. Now that Timon and Pumba are more relaxed in their new home, they are learning to let go a bit more.
They are still very close, but they do enjoy the company of others. Timon loves people and is a cuddle bug. Pumba is social and enjoys greeting the volunteers that come to visit.
Danielle has been rescuing and helping pigs for the last 13 years. She wants people to see and understand how intelligent, loving, and remarkable pigs are. Timon and Pumba clearly have a unique relationship that shows it.
