Sparky, a senior dog, was returned to his owner after missing for 331 days. Lisa Raulserson was worried sick for over a year when she couldn’t find her 16-year-old Westie.
She accidentally left the gate open in her West Palm Beach home, and Sparky had walked out without anyone noticing. They had difficulty calling for him because he was also partially deaf.
Lisa and her family did everything they could think of. They put up flyers and offered a reward. He was microchipped, but the information wasn’t updated, and he didn’t have tags on when he disappeared.
One fateful day Lisa saw a picture of Sparky on a local shelter’s Facebook page. Apparently, he was brought in by Palm Beach animal control and treated as a stray.
Since he was a senior dog, he was on the list of being put down. Thankfully a rescue organization called Sunshine State Westie Rescue stepped in and saved Sparky.
They got him just a day before he was going to be put to sleep. Lisa contacted the organization, and they returned Sparky to her after confirming that she was, in fact, his owner.
They were finally reunited, and Lisa couldn’t be happier. The entire family was relieved, and Sparky was ecstatic to be back home where he belonged.
