When Kiara left her home to walk a dog that day, she did not anticipate bringing home a new kitten, but a friendly little ball of fur won her heart – and her home – when she strolled right up to the surprised young woman, unafraid of the large dog at the end of the leash, and begged for attention. After confirming with a neighbor that the kitten had been wandering the area for quite some time and was indeed homeless, Kiara scooped up the fluffy but scrawny waif and took her home.
Although her coat was fluffy, it was flea-ridden and greasy from time spent using cars for shelter. When Kiara picked up the little tabby, she could feel the undernourishment of her skeletal frame. The scrawny moggy didn’t let malnourishment affect her capacity to give and receive affection, however, purring with contentment every time Kiara held or touched her.
Unprepared for housing a cat, Kiara and her boyfriend headed to their local pet supply store and bought all the supplies they could need in order to care for this new fur-baby, now named Hope. Upon their return home, Kiara gave Hope a bath, noting the deep red-brown color of the bathwater by the end. Clearly, the kitty, whose tabby coat was now clean and silky, had been in desperate need of that bath.
When her belly had been filled, Hope settled in and had a good biscuit-making session before drifting off to a long-awaited satisfying sleep in her safe, comfy new home. The soft tabby kitten is thriving now, and her favorite time is snuggle time with her new mom, Kiara. Obviously, Hope walked up to just the right person at just the right time.
