Snafu is a rescue dog who was helped raised by chimpanzees in Liberia. Jenny and Jim Desmond run the Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue in West Africa. One day they found Snafu on the streets of a remote village.
Jenny saw that Snafu was very sick. She had worms and infections, and her fur was in patches. They brought Snafu back to the sanctuary and did what they could to help her.
At the sanctuary, they rescue many animals, and there is always a day when they make a sudden turn for the better. Snafu woke up one morning, and her eyes were brighter, and her legs were straighter.
They knew she would make it because she showed a willingness to fight and survive. The other residents of the sanctuary, the chimpanzees, quickly took a liking to Snafu.
The chimpanzees loved to carry Snafu around when she was a puppy and cuddle with her. When she was as big as the young chimpanzees, they ran around and played together.
Snafu couldn’t be carried around by the chimpanzees anymore, but they kept a close eye on her at all times. Jenny and Jim thought it was time to find Snafu a forever home.
They flew Snafu to Colorado and introduced her to Jenny’s nieces. Snafu found a new home in Colorado where she could live happily for the rest of her life.
